Parkland Community Health Plan offers healthcare benefits to pregnant women in North Texas through the STAR Medicaid and CHIP Perinate programs. We serve more than 200,000 members in Dallas, Collin, Ellis, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro and Rockwall county.
Services & Benefits
After you enroll in STAR Medicaid or CHIP Perinate, you must select Parkland Community Health Plan as your health plan in order to receive these services.

Prenatal care is an important part of a healthy pregnancy. During the first trimester, prenatal care includes blood tests, a physical exam, conversations about lifestyle and more.
Prenatal vitamins are formulated specifically for women who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, and women who are breast-feeding, with particular emphasis on folic acid, iron and calcium.
Every woman's labor and delivery experience is unique. Your doctor will help you create a delivery plan, including options for pain medication and thoughts about episiotomy and other procedures.
Postpartum care isn't limited to your physical health, but also includes your mental well-being, such as managing mood swings, irritability, sadness and anxiety.
Behavioral health services (includes mental health and substance abuse) are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Benefits include a wide range of prescription and some over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. We also offer home delivery services.
Your child gets dental benefits, like exams and cleanings, through a separate dental managed care organization.
Healthy eyes are an important part of good overall health. You can get a vision exam and glasses, if needed.

Our 24-hour Nurse Line gives you fast, free medical advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
HEALTHfirst members can receive up to a $300 allowance per year for dental services, including checkups, x-rays, and cleanings (age 21 and older).
Members have a $100 yearly allowance towards frames. Services can start when your child is a baby and until age 20 and include an eye exam and prescription eyeglasses once during a 12-month period.
Members can get a cell phone at no cost through the Lifeline program. Plan options include data, talk, and text.*
PCHP offers nonemergency medical transportation (NEMT) to all HEALTHfirst members to their doctor office, food bank or grocery store.
Pregnant members can receive our free meal service starting at the 2nd trimester through 60 days postpartum. You can request one free family-style meal (feeds 4) per month.
Receive a free car seat once you complete your first prenatal visit within the 1st trimester or within 42 days of your enrollment with Parkland Community Health Plan.
Get up to $500 in rewards per year just for making healthy choices such as regular checkups. You can claim your rewards as cash gift cards, toys, household items, and more.
*After you enroll in Medicaid or CHIP, you must select PCHP as your health plan to get these rewards.

To get Medicaid for Pregnant Women or CHIP Perinatal, you must be a Texas resident. You must be a U.S. citizen or qualified non-citizen to get Medicaid for Pregnant Women.

You must have a monthly household income - before taxes - that is less than or equal to the following amounts:
