Parkland HEALTHfirst (Medicaid / STAR) and Parkland KIDSfirst (CHIP Perinatal) offer benefits to women during pregnancy and up to two months after childbirth. Our service area includes Dallas, Collin, Ellis, Hunt, Kaufman, Navarro and Rockwall counties.

Prenatal Care

Prenatal care is an important part of a healthy pregnancy. During the first trimester, prenatal care includes blood tests, a physical exam, conversations about lifestyle and more.
Vitamins

Prenatal Vitamins

Prenatal vitamins are formulated specifically for women who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant, and women who are breast-feeding, with particular emphasis on folic acid, iron and calcium.

Labor + Delivery

Every woman's labor and delivery experience is unique. Your doctor will help you create a delivery plan, including options for pain medication and thoughts about episiotomy and other procedures.

Postpartum care isn't limited to your physical health, but also includes your mental well-being, such as managing mood swings, irritability, sadness and anxiety.

Value-Added Services

Parkland offers several value-added services to pregnant women. After you enroll in STAR or CHIP Perinatal, you must select Parkland HEALTHfirst or Parkland KIDSfirst as your health plan in order to receive these value-added services.

Our 24-hour Nurse Line gives you fast, free medical advice 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Classes help expecting moms to take best possible care of themselves by learning stages of labor, warning signs, relaxation and breathing techniques, and more.

HEALTHfirst Medicaid (STAR) members can enroll in the Federal Lifeline Program to receive a free cell phone that includes data, minutes, and text messaging.

Cash Gift Card Rewards

Parkland rewards pregnant women up to $200 in cash gift cards, just for making healthy choices. After you are approved for Medicaid (STAR), Parkland HEALTHfirst members can receive these paid rewards.

HEALTHFIRST (MEDICAID / STAR)
  • $20 200 points annually for first-time member enrollment into the member portal.
  • $40 400 points annually for members who complete their prenatal checkup within the 1st trimester or within 42 days of joining.
  • $60 600 points annually for members who receive their postpartum checkup within 21-56 days of delivery.
AND KIDSFIRST (CHIP PERINATE) MEMBERS
  • $25 250 points to members who provide proof of a confirmed appointment within 90 days of joining.
  • $25 250 points to members who receive flu shot during their pregnancy.
  • $30 300 points annually for asthmatics enrolled in our Be In Control Program for 3 months.

3 Ways to Apply for Texas STAR (Medicaid) or CHIP

In order to become a member of Parkland HEALTHfirst or Parkland KIDSfirst, you must first apply for STAR (Medicaid) or CHIP through Texas Health and Human Services. Once you are enrolled in STAR or CHIP, you can select Parkland HEALTHfirst or Parkland KIDSfirst as your health plan.
